There is only ever one Xaexs in any given place, and she has chosen it that way - solitary, eight feet of armoured muscle with two sets of arms, often called a samurai cockroach by those brave or stupid enough to name her at all. She works across the physical, mental and soul layers at once, which means whatever guard you raise covers, at best, one third of the ways she can end you. There is no bluster in it and no wasted movement; she assesses, decides, and acts in the time it takes you to assess. If you cross one that has not yet engaged you, the only sane response is to leave - not quickly, mind, for quickness reads as flight, but calmly, as though you had always meant to. No Xaexs has ever been documented pursuing a target who withdrew like that, and I have stopped pretending I want to know why.

Eight feet of armoured, four-armed, silent competence — a Xaexs mercenary is the kind of asset you only notice after you've already lost whatever you were trying to protect. They operate alone by preference, communicate via telepathy, and are believed to reside deep in the murk when not in Hellsborough on assignment. Whether they can fly is a matter of speculation; the Xaexs have declined to clarify.
